Military Education Significant For National Security-Tsogwane

His Honour the Acting President, Mr Slumber Tsogwane says agile and well educated military officers are needed to meet the increasingly volatile and complex operational environment. Acting President Tsogwane said this explains government’s commitment to personnel capacity development through education and training.

The Acting President said this at the Graduation ceremony of Senior Command and Staff Programme Class 14 of 2022 earlier today at the Defence Command and Staff College in Glen Valley.

Honourable Tsogwane said the Defence and Staff College was established to offer officers professional military education in order to enhance national security. He added that the completion of this course came at a critical time when the region is faced with unprecedented challenges.

The graduation saw 57 officers including 10 from other countries graduating. These countries include Malawi, South Africa, Zambia, Rwanda, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Kenya and Lesotho.

Defence Command and Staff College Commandant Brig Papadi Monnatlhare said since its establishment in 2008, the college has made significant achievements and one of which is the accreditation with Botswana Qualification Authority (BQA). Brig Monnatlhare further revealed that the aim is to develop the Defence Command and Staff College into a world class institution.
