This morning, the Ambassador of the United States of America to Botswana, His Excellency Craig Cloud, paid a Courtesy Call (virtual) on the Minister of International Affairs and Cooperation, Honourable Dr. Lemogang Kwape.
The Ambassador briefed the Honourable Minister on the policy decisions announced by the new President of the United States, His Excellency Mr. Joseph Robinette Biden, which among others included, the return of the United States to the Paris Agreement and the World Health Organisation (WHO).
For his part, the Honourable Dr. Kwape extended his congratulations to His Excellency President Joe Biden, and Madam Vice President Kamala Harris on their recent inauguration. The Minister also congratulated Mr. Antony Blinken for his confirmation as the US Secretary of State.
Honourable Dr. Kwape further welcomed the decision by President Bidenβs administration to return to WHO and the Paris Agreement, and underscored the need for continued global efforts in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, and climate change. Ambassador Cloud assured that he would continue to apprise the Ministry of policies towards Africa.
