Jwaneng Town Council launch Local Economic Development Strategy

The Jwaneng Town Council launched its Local Economic Development Strategy of 2021-2026 yesterday. Its main objective is to assist in driving diversification of the town’s local economy and sustain livelihoods beyond mining activities taking place in the town. The strategy is expected to go a long way in growing a diversified local economy, reducing poverty, creating wealth and prosperity for citizens.

BALA Chief Executive Secretary Mr. Steve Pheko said the purpose for Local Authorities crafting LED strategies is for resource identification and coming up with joint interventions by various stakeholders thus being the impetus to sustainability and economic advancement of localities.

Business people in the horticultural sector within the town had an opportunity to display their products and eventually sell them to participants of the activity including council staff.
