Tennis coaches gets drilled

Botswana Tennis Association is this week holding a 13 day coaches level I course sanctioned by the International Tennis Federation (ITF). The association is one of the longest yet least performing among all sporting fraternities. The code has however this year stepped it up by pooling together a crop of their most elite yester-year players who have been serving as coaches or even laid back tennis lovers.

The 2 weeks coaches course comprises of the play & stay course which takes up the first three days of the course as well as the Level I coaches drilling course. The play & stay course allows coaches to be able to identify and execute coaching game based platforms for beginner tennis players. Meanwhile the level I course enaures that coaches receive the competencies to be able to work with beginner players as well as competing national tem players.

Among the participants at the course is 2016 Davis Cup team members namely Lefa Sibanda,Aobakwe Lekang and Bayani Moilwa. Women too have stepped up the ladder alongside their male counterparts,former national female top player Tshegofatso Sekgopi is heading the female entourage. The course will be followed later in the year by a regional coaches course to be held in Gaborone for the first time.
