Social Media Reacts To The Firing Of Miss Plus Size Universe Botswana
It is a norm now in our country that local pageants attract negative publicity. Having noted that it is no secret now that the first ever Miss Plus Size Universe Botswana, Mmangaka Tumagole has been dethroned of her title and replaced with her 2nd princess Natasha Olopeng. This has caused a stir in the country as many people feel that the reasons given by the organizers do not make sense.
Batswana did not take this lying down, and they have used social media to vent their displeasure. Human rights lawyer Uyapo Ndadi shared this statement on Facebook, “Did the queen and her first princess gain more weight after crowning or they were crowned when they were overweight? (Assuming that is the real reason) If they were crowned when overweight, why were they even allowed to participate in the first place? We unnecessarily create drama in Botswana.”
