Township Rollers Appeal The Suspension Of Mogorosi And Msomi

Township Rollers have appealed the suspension of their two players’, Mthokozisi Msomi and Joel Mogorosi’s from Botswana Football Association activities following their recent involvement in a violent clash against Tafic FC’s Samuel Phiri in a BTC Premiership fixture played at the UB Stadium on January 23.

Following a Botswana Premier League Disciplinary Committee (BPL DC) hearing the players pleaded guilty to the charges of misconduct and bringing the game of football into disrepute.

On Thursday the BPL DC convicted the players on their plea of guilt and fined them P10 000 each to be paid with 7 days.

Msomi was suspended for 7 games in all domestic competitions and Botswana Football Association activities while Mogorosi was suspended for 10 games.

Rollers Public Relations Officer, Phempheretlhe Pheto, has complained that the sentence was ridiculously harsh and that they do not accept it.

β€œWe have appealed the judgment. These players are employees and it might affect them to an extent of having their contracts terminated because we cannot pay them while not working. These people need to consider that this is a career for these two and they have families to take care of. They were suspended after the said incident and they have not been playing. Now we are surprised that the suspension will start as of today’s game. If this suspension was incorporated in the games they were serving suspension pending hearing it would be better,” said Pheto

Meanwhile Pheto said Rollers will leave the country on Sunday 3pm for Sudan where they will be playing their second leg of the CAF fixture against Al Merreikh.

The game will be played on Wednesday night and they will come back immediately after the match and are expected to arrive home on Thursday.
